Maybe I'm a comic book snob, but even the covers from this era are kind of weak. When I see "golden age" or "silver age" covers, they have a graphic quality (and charm) that is hard to top.
Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a negative jerk! I just love the older style of artwork.
Seeing the old number ones made me actually go digging through my boxes last night to find my Sandman (Gaiman) 1. Ah the memories, thanks for bringing them back!
