Welcome to Cabela's in Glendale, Arizona - Part 1
Cabela's is a Sidney, Nebraska based specialty retailer of hunting, fishing, camping and related outdoor recreation merchandise.
Cabela's has a distinctive look to their retail operations, a look which turns them into tourist attractions as well as retail stores. The stores are more like cavernous showrooms, bringing the outdoors inside. They feature museum quality displays of taxidermied wildlife, large aquariums, indoor mountains, and archery ranges.
These pictures were taken after Christmas last year in the Glendale, Arizona store. This place is kind of like Disneyland's "Grand Canyon Diorama" and "Country Bear Jamboree" all rolled into one. OK, not really!

Joe Davies Heritage Airpark in Palmdale CA - Part 1
Visitors to the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42 may view a collection of aircraft flown, tested, designed, produced or modified at United States Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale.
The Airpark currently includes 14 retired military aircraft on static display plus a 1/8 scale model of the B-2 Spirit and various components from other aircraft.
Additionally, a B-52, C-46 and T-33 are currently being restored and will be placed on static display in the near future. Photographed on October 28th, 2007.

UPDATE: Richland Missouri Route 66 Postcard
I did a post in November last year showing the postcard below from a Route 66 Mobil gas station and restaurant in Richland, Missouri and got an inquiry from Bill in Richland about buying this postcard.
Bill says: "I actually own the property that is directly behind it and my father in-law owns that property now, there have been a few updates to it like, there is now a large bay on the backside of the building, the gas pumps were taken out quite a few years back".
He sent me some pictures of what the place looks like today, which is 50 years later. You can still see where the Mobil name was painted over in the second picture.
To me, this is what blogging is all about. A real slice of the "Americana Pie". Thank you Bill for sending me your pictures. They are truly appreciated.
