Carson City Postcards

Carson City, Nevada is the smallest capital city in the U.S.A. On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln signed the papers admitting Nevada to the Union.

The Nugget has earned the reputation of being the Carson City's "Monte Carlo", because it features a complete Casino with the most generous slot machines in Nevada.

Carson street looking North - Carson City is the state capital of Nevada and also the county seat for Ormsby County. Named for the famous scout, Kit Carson, it is located south of Reno on Highway 395.

Hardy's Country Store, located on the main Street of Nevada's Capital, specializes in Western Americana, gifts of a western flavor, railrodiana and a collection of glorified junk!

Broderick's Old Corner Bar - National and State executives rub elbows with miners and buckaroos at Broderick's democratic and historic bar in Carson City.

I love those postcards. I was going to ask too if those places are still there to this day.

These pictures are great. We might be driving to San Francisco this year and I noticed Carson City is on the way. Looks like a must-see!

I love the color of the postcards, they are so crisp. Especially the second one has that photo/hand-color crossover that I find visually irresistible.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys. When it comes to postcards and poster stamps, they are my favorite collectibles.

Very cool! I've only been to Carson City once - it's well worth seeing.

Loved seeing your postcards! My stepson lived there for a few years, and we got married in nearby Minden! I really enjoyed this post.

The Nugget is still there, although you wouldn't recognize it. It's been enlarged and completely changed the facade.

All the other businesses are gone, but the buildings are still there. Hardy's Country Store ripped down all the faux-old west stuff, and is now a restaurant. All the great old signs downtown were lost, too.

If you'll forgive me an on-topic plug, I've posted a bunch more old photos of Carson City and the area at www.wnhpc.com.

Thank you for the comments Dave and Heidi, always appreciated, Richard.

Scott you have a fantastic website, if you don't mind can I plug your site and put some of your pictures on my blog for a future post. Richard.

I don't mind at all. I think these old photos need to be spread around and shared as much as possible.
