The Great Fair

These slides of the 1964 New York World's Fair were taken by the Uncle of "Charlotte Eats" blogger, Patrick. Enjoy these fantastic slides, and thanks again Patrick!

In the background we see the Bell Telephone Building (white roof), the Travelers Insurance Building (red roof), to the left of the Travelers building is the IBM Building with it's great Selectric Typewriter Ball. To the right of the Bell building is Disney's/GE Carousel of Progress. The Bubble-Top snack bars are the coolest.

From left to right: The Cinerama Dome, Chrysler Exhibit, the US Royal Tires ferris wheel, Sinclair Dinoland and far right the Ford Motor Company Pavilion.
Bell Telephone Exhibit Building.

US Royal Tires and Avis Rent A Car.

The New York State Building.

It's just astounding to think that this was only there for two years! Great pictures; maybe the '64 Fair WAS the best!

Must have been an awesome experience to be a young kid in the sixties and have gone here.

So, those towers really are UFO's, just like Men In Black....

I was 8 years old in 1964 and we went to the Fair that year and again in '65. I rode in the UNIROYAL tire ferris wheel. On a trip in Detroit in 1977 I saw it parked in front of a tire factory.
