Amish You!

The Amish Farm & House - East of Lancaster, Pennsylvania - Two Miles East of the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge and Six Miles West of Paradise, Pennsylvania - Member of the Pennsylvania Dutch Tourist Bureau.

A group of Amish children in a scale model of a stagecoach. The Amish are a Religious Sect who have retained many of their forefathers' original customs and beliefs, and live almost solely from Farming.

The Amish Homestead - Look for the Orange Milk Cans at Entrance - This beautiful and scenic 71 acre farm dates back to 1744 and is occupied by an Old Order Amish Family using horses and mules.

I used to live in Pennsylvania, and we would sometimes go to Lancaster - I think - to buy bread. I was too young to appreciate it, really!

I just got back from a trip to Philadelphia. The Reading Terminal Market had a whole section devoted to Amish merchants selling produce, canned goods (jams, jellies, pickles, etc., and handicraft items.

All the sellers wear the traditional garb with lace caps for the ladies.

Very picturesque. The story is that these folks are German ancestry, and the "Dutch" terminology is a corruption of "deutsch".
